April Lockhart
April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She started with guitar and piano in 7th grade which sparked curiosity. When she was in seventh grade she began to take piano and guitar lessons. The lessons sparked her passion to write songs. In her 14th year, April devoted much of her time to writing and practicing songs. Over the next few months, she started taking notes together with her dad on trips to LA in addition to NY. April featured other topics in her track, Take my Hand. These topics included topics for her friends who dealt with issues such as peer pressure and disabilities, or even teenage suicidal thinking. Lockhart has her own following and also works as a lifestyle blogger at the well-known Ilia Clean Beauty brand. Lockhart was never born with a left hand, and that is why she's the person she is. But that's far from all the facts. The profile of Lockhart on Twitter does not conceal her status as disabled, but neither does it concentrate on the fact that she is disabled. The message? that we are all a part of a multitude of identities and we're beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart talks through video from Nashville. "I don't wish for it to dictate my personal life. I'm not looking to be merely known as a disability expert. It doesn't impact my everyday living. I continue to do the things I normally would and I've adapted to my disabilities. In addition, I see that it is a crucial aspect of me. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart is a true inspiration for this aspect. Still she admits she's gone through periods of being uncomfortable with her body, at times, being unsure about wearing specific types of clothes that showed the arms of her. She now wears whatever she likes. and she shares her photos on social media. The journey itself is what I'm not sure if you ever arrive she says of self-love. This is true for everyone regardless of degree of self-confidence. I think it is important to be surrounded by people who can really see you.
